NO MODELS UNDER THE AGE OF 18. It goes without saying that if you submit nude art of an underage model or subject, deviantART will not only delete it but will ban you and report you to the appropriate authorities. If you are under the age of 18 you are not permitted to submit nude art of yourself. We will remove your account and may still report you to the proper authorities. I know that last part sounds funny, but keep your underage behind to yourself please. Don't make me tell your parents, it will be embarrassing. And they could find themselves in a lot of trouble for permitting you to do this. This is not a laughing matter to us at all.
NO SEXUAL THEMES. This means no displays of sexual acts of any kind, no displays of masturbation, no displays of erections, no displays of male ejaculates or excess female lubricants and no other pornographic or explicit sexual posing or displays. For underage models, this rule is applicable even if the model is not nude. In other words, minors are not allowed to be depicted in a sexual way regardless of the context.
NO GRATUITOUS NUDITY This is a vague guideline, but in essence we are actively encouraging the submission of 'artistic' nudes and not simple shots of naked people. Your nude submission should obviously possess some artistic merit as judged by the administration. Most deviations which are classified as gratuitous are those in which the only evident purpose of the photograph is to display a person’s penis, testicles, vagina, breast, nipples, or buttocks.
DA is not Photobucket. This is a place for uploading YOUR OWN work and not posting work by other artists. Doing so without permission from the artist is considered ART THEFT and is AGAINST THE LAW.
Please note that you CAN NOT post images by other people, or images found on the internet. It is ILLEGAL as per the Copyright Law. This is a site for uploading your own work, not work by other people, and doing so can get you banned from DA. Here is their rules, which you agreed to follow when you signed up. FAQ #8:What does deviantART consider to be Art Theft?
Generally speaking any submission which is directly built upon the existing work of another artist or photographer can be considered to be a case of art theft. These works may feature screenshots, official artwork or sprites taken from a video game, scans from an art book, artwork found on a website somewhere on the internet or a photograph of a famous person (just to name a few examples), but in every case the 'seed image' is the legal property of another artist. In many cases these 'seed images' are manipulated, colored over, blended with other images, and otherwise digitally worked over but none of this makes the use acceptable or allowed.
FAQ #157:Can I use things created by other people in my submissions?
According to the deviantART Submission Policy you must obtain written permission from the proper and legal owner of any material which is not one of your own original creations.
Please follow our official guidelines for providing this written permission for staff verification. Be aware that failure to provide such permission, or providing permissions which cannot be verified, will lead to the immediate removal of the submission.
Artists who fail to adhere to these rules and who consistantly submit third party materials without the knowledge or permission of the proper owner of the materials will receive administrative action. This may include removing your artwork from deviantART, the possible purging of your Gallery and Scrapbook, and the possible banning of your account with or without prior warning.
You can NOT use art by other people in your submissions as stated in the sections I left in the previous comment. If you are unclear of the rules of DA and Copyright in general, I highly suggest you read these. The ONLY time you can use the work of another artist is when you have WRITTEN proof from the original artist.
